Geotechnical survey is conducted as part of Pipeline survey to understand the soil stratification. This investigation is conducted mainly using an HDD (Horizontal directional drilling) method. It is done to measure several factors affecting the pipeline design/structure as follows:
Soil identification to locate rock, rock inclusions, gravelly soils, loose deposits, discontinuities, and hardpan
Soil strength and stability characteristics
Groundwater
SEISMIC ANALYSIS
Seismic survey is the analysis of the response of a structure to earthquakes. It is conducted as part of the pipeline & other infrastructural surveys for structural assessment and retrofit in regions where earthquakes are prevalent.
In this survey, the pipeline route is superimposed on Seismotectonic Map and the seismic fault line area is shown on the alignment sheet as well as on ground so that the pipeline design can be structured accordingly.
HYDROLOGICAL SURVEY
Hydrological survey is conducted using an Echo sounder / Total Station / DGPS to understand the depth of water level, identify water bodies, catchment areas, flow pattern of river, high flood / high tide levels both upstream and downstream
